With 3 Time Award Winner! On The Couch With Rosemary! (Weekly Interviews in Property, Fashion, Charity & Media) etc, etc, ETC!!
This week, I opted to be on the receiving end of QUESTIONS. As my saying goes, for you to instruct / delegate / etc, etc, ETC…You must be in a position to demonstrate that you too can do what you are asking of others. Ok, dears; due to the detailed questions coupled with my responses, I did not want to produce a feature resembling an essay so shortlisted 3 questions below in the order of receipt from 'Interviewers' on Facebook - Enjoy:)

QUINTER OTIENO
Hi Rosemary, my name is Quinter Otieno (Known as Nyar Ahero on Facebook). Thanks a lot for considering me among the many people you have for friends, when one wants to become a model or follow a certain career path especially if it involves modelling, acting ,how much patience must one have to reach their goals? Especially in a country like Kenya where talent is not taken into consideration.
------------------------------------------
ROSEMARY;
Hi Nyar, you are welcome. Thank you for getting in touch with me via my official site as well as on Facebook. Firstly, I cannot commit re: your statement on Kenya as I have never been, therefore I deem myself unqualified to add comments, secondly; to answer the rest of your questions; in everything you undertake in life, in your case Career queries, you must first be 100% certain that the career you are pursuing is one you want from your heart and not because someone else has you that you can do it / you have seen it achieved by someone else.
------------------------------------------
Patience is a skill only you can figure out / master for yourself and not an element someone else can teach you. You also need to have an open mind that not everything will come to you straightaway. You have to be persistent and only rely on yourself 100% and not on the person you have asked for assistance etc. reason being; this is a dream / a career you have decided on pursuing by yourself and therefore you are in charge of how far you are prepared to put in all the work in ensuring you fulfill your goal.
------------------------------------------
On the subject of Modelling / Acting, you will need self-education, there are so many resources available from Google searches, making time to network, finding out what's happening in your area of interest, again ONLY you will need to do the research and understand the requirements fully for yourself. I could tell you what worked for me, but it will not work for you as we are different people.
------------------------------------------
Please also keep in mind that Modelling / Acting is widespread; i.e., for Runway / Catwalk Models, there is a height restriction so to avoid wasting time you can allocate to what is applicable to you / having your spirits dampened, put 100% in pursuing work you fully tick the boxes for and again, this comes from you doing your research and finding out what is required, what you have and what can be offered. In everything once you have worked out where your journey is and put in all the work, do not stop in a week if no results have come through, keep on keeping on, results will be evident before you know it and your pursuit for fulfilling your dream / goal will not feel wasted. I trust this has been helpful for you:)

BEA MZENDA
My question would be .. If you were not a model what would you have been and how would you have achieved your goals because you find that a number of our young black girls struggle to fit in or time and time again get their hopes dashed because they think the key to success is being a model or singer.
------------------------------------------
ROSEMARY;
Hi Bea, I am actually not just a Model:) My educational background is Property Surveying, I am also a former Beauty Queen, A Runway / Catwalk Model, A Charity Founder as well as A Charity Ambassador amongst other credentials and now a business focused lady.
------------------------------------------
The answer to your query is actually in your question; if anyone is struggling to fit in / think the key to success is by being a Model / Singer then in my opinion, they are in the wrong industry / they are fixated on how everyone else in those industries is doing instead of re-focusing the direction on what / where their path is / they are knocking on the wrong doors / they have not really taken the time out to fully research or know what it is they want to be.
------------------------------------------
I believe we all have unique talents which, we must take time out to learn more about, invest time in growing the interest and being prepared to work hard and ensure results are obtained. Personally for me, I have a face in the industries of Property, Charity, Fashion, Media etc., etc., ETC. simply because I have challenged myself to try something in each one of those industries, initially as I had a keen interest, NOT because I saw someone else do, then thought, yeah I will try it.
------------------------------------------
When I am 100% on an area of work and I discover I can actually make something out of it, I work hard and keep on investing my time in each one of those industries and I appoint myself as the driver in achieving my outlined goals in those industries. My take on all things I get involved in is; if I feel I have put a lot of effort in and nothing comes out of it, I simply say 'oh well, it was not meant for me, on to plan B' so long as I have my goals listed and I believe wholeheartedly that I belong in that circle / industry, I make it my challenge / task to ensure I get the results, it may not be today / tomorrow but my self-belief and prayer gets me there at the time I was supposed to claim victory:)

SUZANNE CHILESHE
Aka young sister (Known as Beau Cauchemar on Facebook) -
My question is what is the best way to break into fashion/modelling whilst still maintaining ur focus/success in property (or whatever other field eg law). Is there skills u have learnt within Property that you incorporate into Fashion & Vice / Versa?
------------------------------------------
ROSEMARY;
Hey Suzie, there is no one / best way to break into anything. My advice is, if you want to multi-task and have 2 / 3 projects / careers running at the same time, you need to learn to prioritise, have effective time management and self-discipline and be prepared to separate the 2 / 3 careers at any given time. For example, if you work Monday - Friday as a Lawyer (in your case), be prepared to put a lead onto your modelling activities until Saturday / Sunday and focus 100% on the task you have allocated on that specific day / date, this also means, if a tempting Modelling task comes through on a day you are supposed to be committed to your Legal work, you need to be disciplined to not accept it. By all means, if you do all your work and have it signed off by your employer and you are authorised to have that day off to fulfill your modelling work, then great.

Yes, I have a lot of transferable skills I have learnt in my Property Work, which I incorporate in my Fashion Work & vice versa and those skills can apply to you too; be professional at all times, be on time for allocated duties, treat everyone with mutual respect, work to the level you aspire to be than you have currently been placed, accept accountability for everything you are working on etc., etc., ETC..
