Yetty D:) Hey dear, so happy & pleased to interview you & find out more about you as the face behind Yetty Designs (as I knew it in the beginning) and you are now known as Yetty D! In brief, please tell us who your fab self is, how it all started and the key reason behind the slight change in brand name.

Hello Rosemary it is a pleasure doing this interview with you as well. My name is Yetty Ogunnubi and the Creative Director / Head Designer of Yetty D Label. Yetty D is an Art and Fashion based business which started some years ago from my passion for art with my love of fashion a perfect combo I believe it was, as it all started from Art being my hobby and fashion being something I live and crave for plus the fact that I treasure unique stuff. Ever since I was young I always said I wanted to be a Fashion Designer when I grew up, it's amazing it's all come to reality now and I'm thankful to God for it.

The name change from Yetty Designs to Yetty D, came about when I truly discovered what I wanted as a designer for the brand and from the looks of it everybody seems to think I made a wise decision changing the name to Yetty D as it is a catchy name and I feel it's a name that will stick to people's minds ;)

Sounds like it was a wise move as you are very passionate about it and yes definitely Yetty D's shorter & catchy:) I have had the pleasure of working with you and your brand most recently when you were featured on Afrika Rising as the designer & mwah as your model, thank you again for the opportunity:) Tell us more about your current collection, when you are designing, who do you have in mind, who are your clothes designed for?

Yes we worked together recently for the TV project and I appreciate you coming down even through your busy schedule. It was sure great working with you again.

My current collection is the 'Yettylicious Yearnings' the collection is inspired greatly by flowers and bold colours as well as trying to reach out to people from all parts of the world. I wanted to create a collection that can relate with any culture and individual provided you love your fashion cool, trendy, edgy, classy and limited pieces which is accustomed with the brand.

Fabulous, I love that "Yettylicious Yearnings" a great creative play of words:) From what I have seen, The Yetty D brand consists of not only fabulous clothes but customised hand made jewellery, bags, pretty much everything except shoes? I am not sure I have seen any, any plans to start designing some? At what stage do you decide the right time to launch a new product?

Actually we do make custom made shoes (Sneakers and Plims) well more like bespoke pieces probably the reason you haven't seen it yet.. It was launched a couple seasons ago. For me launching a new product is an instinct thing as well as having the ability to create trends and know what my market needs.

Oh wow, I look forward to seeing some ogf your sneaker / trainers collection. There are so many amazing established and upcoming designers, how do you maintain a unique and competitive edge?

Like you said there are some many designers out there and over the years I have learned to stay true to myself. We are always trying to keep abreast in the fashion industry to keep coming up with innovative products that we feel our clients will love. Setting the trends is definitely the soul of the Label and our motto ' We Create You Wear, Creativity is the name of the Game' says it all.

I am pleased you highlighted a key point re: staying true to yourself, which is very fundamental in any career or given situation. I also like your motto:) When and where do you want to see Yetty D be on the fashion map, I have no doubt Africa has a secured spot, where else?

Definitely Africa has a secured spot, I want to see Yetty D in all the continents of the world and I want to make it a global brand which can stand the test of time and continue to cater for our Clients in the best possible way.

I have no doubt Yetty D will be embraced in all continents, your work ethic and creativity in itself will definitely get you there. Any upcoming big shows happening for you this year?

Yes, this year we have decided to focus mainly in our annual Yetty D show coming up early September. The new collection which will be launched in September is what I believe to be my best collection yet, as I really gave myself the opportunity to express my artistic side with a burst of colour and amazing fabric. I went on a fabric journey to achieve a superb collection.

Oh wow, sounds great and I cannot wait to see what you will bring out on that runway! and the collection sounds really amazing. For me personally, anything with colour in my wardrobe gives me the excitement to dress to the 9s:) Thank you again for my pressies (fab bag and hand made jewellery) which I have used like It is all that I have:) besides your website, where else can everyone else see all Yetty D products and even more important, how can they purchase them?
